The other kids
  cried and bawled
    at the slush mass
         you called

Your Body
 Your Home

        But

My smile curved in wonder
 How a terror
  could be so
                  beautiful

Cesar Toscano is a Chicago-based writer; he is currently a junior majoring in creative writing at Columbia College Chicago, where he worked as an assistant poetry editor for Allium magazine. He also runs his new magazine, Mystic Owl Magazine. His work delves into mental health and identity through a speculative and horror lens. When he is not writing, he enjoys watching movies and playing video games.

Why we chose this piece: We like how Cesar plays with form in this poem, and we love how oddly wholesome it is. The repetition and rhythm in “Your Body / Your Home” works really well, and the imagery is vivid. He tells a great story in so few words.
